ACTIVE EXPERIENCES
Snowshoe through untouched nature for a clear view of the Martinsloch, perhaps the most famous rock opening in the Tectonic Arena Sardona, which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2008
Only very experienced snowshoers and hikers should attempt this tour since it’s classified as difficult. The route leads in deep snow through untouched nature from the mountain station Grauberg towards Laaxerstöckli and Piz Ofen. There is plenty to discover in the Tectonic Arena Sardona, including the rock layers formed by the legendary Flims landslide from over 9,500 years ago.
The highlight of the tour, however, is the breathtaking view of the Martinsloch, a natural hole measuring 22 m. high and 19 m. wide in the Tschingelhörner rock face. On a few days in spring and autumn, numerous spectators gather to watch the sun shine through the triangular-shaped opening to land directly on the church tower of Elm, a rare and impressive event.
